Java Networking Developer (seattle)
Java Networking Developer This position is a 5 month contract for a Java developer in a fast-paced startup that is building a custom peer-to-peer proxy.
The developer will be part of a small and agile team that will quickly prototype and deploy this system.
It is critical that the developer have the ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts, pick the right solution for a given problem, and work effectively toward the released product.
Responsibilities:
Clear and effective communication with both technical and non-technical team members.
Develop a peer-to-peer application based upon open source technologies including encrypted communication, NAT Traversal, and HTTP proxy servers.
Database schema design and implementation as required by the overall design.
Key member of the development team with respect to building out the networking components of the system.
Requirements:
Demonstrable experience with the Java networking packages including secure transport methods.
5 years of enterprise experience with object oriented design and Java programming in both web and native applications.
Strong and flexible problem solving skills with the ability to efficiently pick the best solution in complex situations.
Experience with relational databases and schema design with a knowledge of ORM usage and implementation.
Knowledge of best practices of software development including coding standards, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Desirable Skills:
Experience developing GUIs for both native clients and web browsers.
This includes AWT or Swing and JSP, CSS, and Java script for the web application presentation layer.
Experience with e-commerce applications, particularly Java based solutions.
A knowledge of Amazon Web Services and the EC2.
Strong experience using Linux.
The developer should be comfortable working from the command line and be able to run complicated systems within their development environment.
