UW Needs Healthy, Non-Smoking Volunteers for Research Study

Study Description:
Enrolled subjects are asked to come in for four separate sessions, which must be at least three weeks apart.
Two two-hour exposures will be clean air (with placebo or terazosin), while the other two will consist of filtered diesel exhaust(with placebo or terazosin).
Health measures include:
vital signs, EKG monitoring, ultrasound of your upper arm, blood draws, urine collection, and electronic health questionnaires.
This is an outpatient study.
Enrollees will arrive at the CRC at 7:
00 a.
m.
and will be discharged by 4:
30 p.
m.
The visit includes health measurements pre-exposure, during the two-hour exposure session, and post-exposure.
A brief one hour follow-up appointment is scheduled the following morning at CRC.
Eligibility Criteria:
This study accepts healthy volunteers (both males and females).
Requirements are:
1) 18-49 years of age 2) Non-smokers 3) No medical history of asthma 4) Women must use effective birth control as long as they participate in the study Exclusions (conditions that would prevent a volunteer from participating in this study):
1)Have a serious current physical disease (such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart disease or cancer) or are currently undergoing treatment for a major psychological disorder.
2) Are a smoker, live with a smoker, or chew tobacco.
3) Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during study participation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
